A pub in Edinburgh has just revealed a 28-meter-long Father Ted mural

By Oisin Feeney, January 29, 2018

An Irish pub in Edinburgh has just unveiled a 28-meter-long mural dedicated to all of the best scenes from Father Ted.

Malone's pub in Edinburgh opened its doors to the public on Saturday, January 27 and to celebrate, they recruited the artist Chris Rutterford.

Chris lovingly recreated some of the most famous scenes from the TV Show. Some of the scenes include when they all get lost in the lingerie shop, kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse, My lovely horse and much more. There are also a number famous characters from the show, including the dastardly milkman, Pat Mustard.

Chris said of the mural:

“When we decided to go with the Father Ted theme for the staircase I really felt we were on holy ground – it’s one of the funniest shows there's ever been. I love it.

“I've produced lots of murals over the past few years but this felt a wee bit intimidating – it's such a classic. There was no shortage of iconic moments and characters to include.

"I spent a full night ploughing through the shows looking for the thread of the story. The final piece is a bit like a graphic novel – an invitation to visit Craggy Island from the comfort of the new Malones.”
